THE WAVERING PATH is inspired by Greek mythology. Particularly the story of Prometheus and his creation of mankind and the related conflict with Zeus. In ancient Greek it was believed that things consist of one or more of five distinct elements, one of which is earth: The element of heavy matter. This song revolves around this element as a metaphor for human knowledge and the desire to derive truth from it.

Ground is broken
gapes wide open

Molded from dirt through the hands of Prometheus
A portrait of gods bound to the weight
of an oath never to equal, but in resemblance to stray

Longing breathed into this vessel
now to breathe life into something else

Terrestrial resident walks the earth
A wavering path encountered by man
in the role of wanderer and architect
then any part in between

Distant thunder echoes loathing
Earth-bound creatures bared to cold winds

A head in the clouds is conductinng a fall

Petrified in our intent to move
nowhere but the furthest realm

Pride in creation evokes Epimetheus
Clay dried into shape, hardened to stone
in a kiln heated from stolen fire - a torch to pass on

Burdened with the gift of hope
A light among the most aphotic roots

Terrestrial residents stand their ground
The wavering path beaten and torn
for the sake of wanderers and architects
then any role yet unseen

Solid ground in aspiration
comes adrift from exploitation

Barren the soil that once nourished the growth

Petrified in our intent to move
nowhere but the furthest realm
